Description

East Los Angeles, CA
Architects: Ted Tokio Tanaka, Los Angeles, CA; Barrio Planners, Los Angeles, CA
Product: Custom 12x24x2 Concrete Panels with Cantera Stone looks

Mariachi Plaza is the cultural hub of a vibrant East LA neighborhood where you can hire musicians and bands on the spot (for once, truth in advertising does apply). When a new station was planned for the Metro Gold Line Eastside Extension, it was important that the new station fit gracefully in the existing space. Therefore, the canopy features concrete panels with a custom finish and color to complement the cantera stone gazebo that anchors the plaza. Thanks to our Chameleon liquid color batching system we were able to make the Davis Color pigment selected by the architect at a touch of a button. Expanded shale aggregate and a custom formliner were also employed for a unique color and texture combination, in addition to surface exposed colored aggregate.
